Today I want to share with you an oil I have had in my home for almost three years. I call this my “hippie” oil because of its unique smell – someone will always ask if you have Patchouli on. Patchouli is a member of the mint family and blends well with Peppermint oil. In this post, I am going to share with you a few ways you can use this oil in your home!
Historically used to freshen breath, the musky-sweet, and earthy aroma is refreshing and deodorizing. So give it a try as a mouth rinse!
Many teeth-whitening products and toothpastes include baking soda because it has the ability to remove minor stains from the teeth. Baking soda is made up of a chemical compound that acts as an abrasive that can help to remove teeth stains, helping your smile look whiter. When using baking soda for teeth-whitening purposes, be aware that too much baking soda can damage tooth enamel—the coating that protects your teeth.
Peppermint is commonly used in oral health products for mint flavoring, and to help freshen breath. On its own, Peppermint essential oil can be used to freshen breath, and makes the perfect addition to a homemade mouth rinse.
A member of the mint family, Patchouli is a fitting companion for Peppermint oil and baking soda in this recipe, as it is used in many scented products for its distinct aroma. It also has freshening and deodorizing properties.
- Combine baking soda and water in a small cup.
- Add essential oils and mix well.
- Swish mixture around in mouth for one minute before spitting into the sink.
Patchouli essential oil contains a variety of skin benefits and can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes, and skin imperfections.
This oil can also promote a smooth and glowing complexion. Make it part of your daily facial routine and apply one to two drops of Patchouli essential oil to your face diluted. You will love the results!
I leave the stress of the day behind me by enjoying the grounding and energizing properties of Patchouli and Peppermint essential oils. After a long day of work, I combine Patchouli oil with peppermint and apply this blend to my forehead, temples, or to the back of my neck. Patchouli oil will help provide a grounding and stabilizing effect on emotions while the Peppermint will work to relieve feelings of tension.
If you are feeling a little frazzled or if your emotions start to overwhelm you, combine Patchouli essential oil with vetiver and apply the oil blend to the bottoms of your feet. The emotionally grounding and balancing properties of Patchouli and Vetiver essential oils will help calm emotions.
