In this Savy Mama review I will be sharing my thoughts and experience with a new product I have been trying: Shea Moisture. My sister in law introduced me to these products recently and I was very excited to try them. The main reason I love this company is because they use certified organic products that are healthy for the skin. Take a look at all the amazing ingredients they use here! The other reason I choose to support this brand is because they are dedicated to giving back and make a difference by enriching the lives of those in need.
I will never go back to generic store bought lotion because so many are laced with chemicals and things I cannot pronounce. Bath & Body Works may smell good, but you get a double does of artificial fragrances and synthetic colors. Many of these synthetic chemicals are skin irritants, skin penetrators, endocrine disrupters and are carcinogenic. That’s right, they have been shown to cause cancer. We put these products on our skin everyday and sometimes on our children’s skin. This is absorbed right into the blood stream. This post highlights the toxic chemicals to avoid when buying skincare products.
I do love making my own products at home, but sometimes it is nice to have a convenient, ready to use beauty product. The last batch of body butter I made ended up staying in the measuring cup I prepared it in…opps! A savy mama tip: buy good quality body lotion when in need! In this review I will be sharing some of my favorite products made by Shea Moisture.
I love these products for my son because they have safe products in them. They also use avocado oil which is rich in vitamins A, D and E, Lecithin and Potassium and helps nourish the skin as it deeply moisturizes. Price $9.99 each

Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Infused Shea Body Butter
This product is amazing! In all seriousness, it is like rubbing honey on your skin. Manuka honey works wonders for blemished skin because of its natural antibacterial properties. It is is produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the native manuka bush. It also helps balance the skin’s pH and contains amino acids which slough away dead skin cells, helping to keep pores clear.
This stuff takes a little more patience to put on, but the results last all day and it literally makes your skin glow. I am sure if I walked through a swarm of gnats, they would stick to me. I personally like this kind of body butter, but if you do not, the next product might be more for you. Price $11.99
Coconut & Hibiscus Body Butter
This body butter is much smoother and easier to apply than the manuka honey & matura infused shea body butter. It smells so wonderful! Hibiscus Flower is a natural emollient that treats dry, rough skin and helps improve skin tone. This body butter also has a healthy does of vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant highly effective in protecting skin from free radical damage. Price $9.99
Lemongrass & Ginger Body Scrub
My husband bought me two body scrubs from Bath & Body Works for my birthday. I was slightly horrified. I thought, “have you not read my blog?!” I was dumbfounded when I read through the ingredients. There were so many synthetic ones I could not even pronounce. It is the thought that counts, right ladies?
Shea Moisture makes one of the best body scrubs I have used to date! I think I am addicted to the smell of the lemongrass which also happens to be a natural astringent and anti-inflammatory to help balance the skin. The shea butter deeply moisturizes and repairs the skin with vitamins and essential fatty acids, leaving the skin soft and smooth but not oily. Price $9.99
Why Chose Organic?
I chose organic skincare products because I use them everyday. These ingredients are absorbed into our bloodstream and can have an effect on our health.
Being pregnant is another reason I choose to buy organic products that are safe to use. I have found that these products have never left me disappointed and the extra cost of buying them is worth it!
I hope you can find a product that works well for your family and enjoy the benefits of good quality ingredients. You can find Shea Moisture in Target stores or online.
