I hate pimples. I mean, honestly have you ever met someone who LIKES them? I have tried soo many beauty products. I go for which one “looks” the best, the one that really catches my eye, thinking it will somehow magically work better than the previous one I had bought. I would go through cycles of good days and bad days and I finally linked it to my cycle, duh. Women things. I always know when my face is going to be ridiculous, so I always have this mask on hand. I tend to have good results with drying them up, and clay is the perfect thing for it.
Ditch Those Fake Beauty Products
Most of them (no, probably all of them) on the shelf in your supermarket contain toxic purfumes, dyes and fragrances. Yes, toxic. Do you ever read those labels and ingredients? No. Your like me, you go for which one looks the best, the one that drawls your attention. I’m a mother, I have breakouts. I do not have time to try every new item that comes out every other day and hope it works!
The best part about this easy DIY anti pimple mask is simplicity. It is so simple to make and cheeeap. These are also great products to have on hand because you can use them in so many other recipes for the skin.
DIY Pimple Cream
Makes 1/4 cup
- 1 T of Bentonite clay
- 3 T of aloe vera gel
- 1 T of coconut oil, melted and slightly cooled
Mix all together to form a thick paste. If it is too thick, add 1 tsp of water at a time until a smooth consistency is reached. Store in a small tin or container. If it is dry the next time you go to use it, just add a little water and mix!
Leave this on until it is dry and then wash off with warm water. Witch hazel is a great toner!
My mother always use to say, “don’t pick your face!” and it turns out she was right! Sometimes when we go at a pimple with a vendence (you know you have), we actually make it worse.
Acne develops when some of the pores (through which oil normally flows from the oil gland to reach the skin surface) become blocked, resulting in trapping of oil within the skin pores. The pores are blocked by skin cells that have been shed from the lining of the skin pore and have bunched together. A blackhead or whitehead will develop from this skin pore blockage.
This is where bentonite clay comes into play. Its amazing drawing power will help to open and clean out the pores. It removes excess sebum and is an excellent exfoliant. Calcium Bentonite Clay has natural antibacterial properties as well, and will dramatically speed the healing of the pimples. Many times, when people begin using clay masks to combat acne, they notice that their acne appears to worsen before it improves although for me, this is not the case. Don’t panic if this happens to you! This is a good thing! It means that the clay is doing its job, and is pulling the toxins from your skin. Also, your face may show some redness when you remove the clay. This is very normal. The Calcium Bentonite Clay increases the blood circulation to the skin, which aids in the healing process.
